Read Leanne's story

Leanne Coleman will take part in her first Girls Night Out walk in memory of her Grandad David Berry.

Like Leanne, many will walk on 10 September in memory of loved ones and support hospice services by fundraising. She kindly allowed us to share how we helped her and her Grandad.

After battling throat cancer, David was diagnosed with Mesothelioma, which led him to require palliative care from the Hospice before his death in August 2021.

Leanne said: “Having spent almost six weeks of his life at the Hospice, myself and my family couldn’t have felt more reassured that Grandad was in the best hands to receive the care he required.

“The staff at St Nicholas Hospice offered unconditional support to my family and I throughout those weeks and beyond, which is something we cannot thank them enough for.

“I personally took the opportunity to have eight weeks of bereavement counselling offered by the Hospice, which was such an important decision I made, and it is something that I will always be grateful for.”
